How big is my hat? How do I know what my head size is?
It’s so easy to measure what size hat you need, what size hat you need, what size head you have:
Ingredients:
– 1 cloth staple
– 1 head
Description:
Get out a cloth pencil.
Put the cloth centimetre around your head so that the centimetre is centred at the back of your head and in the middle of your forehead, just as you would wear your hat. Make sure the cloth stencil is above your ear! Measure exactly where you would put the hat.
You’re all set. You need a hat or cap the same size as the centimetres you measured.
Preparation time: 1 minute.
Addition advice:
- Adult knitted hats are usually not sized. They expand easily to fit the size of the head.
- Straw hats are often only numbered in twos, but you can still find one that fits your head. Some straw hats are sized in even numbers but most are odd. For example, if you measure 56 and 55 -57 is available, choose 57.
- Women’s hats are not usually sized, as women’s heads are often similar in size. But we can find your hat or cap even if your head size is smaller or larger than average. There is always a hat to fit narrower or wider. And women’s hats are sized, just like men’s hats. Casual hats are made adjustable with an internal rubber.
- If the hat you’ve chosen is baggy, place a folded strip of paper or small piece of sponge under the inner strap to help you reduce the size.
- Hat size can also be narrowed with an internal sewn-in elastic, which doesn’t require a hatter, a skilled seamstress can make a pack of spades.
